Former Vice Industry Minister Kang Kyung-sung, who took office as CEO of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) earlier in November 2024, made his first visit to an industrial site to address export challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Kang visited Koh Young Technology, a semiconductor inspection equipment manufacturer based in Gyeonggi Province, on Monday. During the visit, he listened to the company’s concerns and discussed support measures to boost exports. Koh Young is known for developing the world’s first system for inspecting solder paste defects on printed circuit boards (PCBs). It is also a leading mid-sized company with the largest global market share in surface mount technology (SMT) inspection equipment used in electronics assembly.
Koh Young’s CEO, Koh Kwang-il, was recently honored with the An Jung-geun Patriotic Entrepreneur Award, established by Global SAE-A Group and Maeil Business Newspaper. The award recognizes business leaders who embody patriotic entrepreneurship by contributing to the nation via export growth, reflecting Global SAE-A’s corporate philosophy.
Kang expressed his commitment to supporting the company, saying, “We will actively assist Koh Young in seizing opportunities in the market.”
